Jefferson County Release Records
A Jefferson County Jail release is a physical custody event. It can mean a person went back to the community after bail, recognizance, dismissal, time served, sentence expiration, probation, or county parole. It can also mean the jail handed the person to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, another county, a federal agency, ICE, a hospital, or another lawful custodian. That distinction changes every later search. The jail record should answer when local custody stopped, who authorized the change, and where the person went.
No official Jefferson County online roster or recent-release archive was found during the research sweep. A name that is missing from an unofficial current-custody list proves very little. Jail Records is the direct source for the administrative release event, while the Pennsylvania UJS Case Search explains bail, disposition, sentence, and other court action. State, federal, and immigration tools apply only when the record supports those custody paths.
- Discharge
- The end of a stated form of custody or supervision.
- Time served
- A sentence satisfied by custody credit already earned.
- Parole
- Release from an institution while the sentence continues under supervision.
- Probation
- A court-ordered community sentence that may not follow prison.
- Detainer
- A request or legal basis for another authority to take custody.
Jefferson County Release Types
Release words must be read in context. Jefferson County does not publish a set of local database codes, so the actual booking entry and docket language control. A bail order, for example, explains why release was allowed. Jail Records confirms when staff completed it. A transfer entry means the county stopped holding the person, but it does not mean all custody ended.
| Release type | What it means | Best next record |
|---|---|---|
| Bail or recognizance | The court allowed community release under stated terms. | UJS bail entries plus Jail Records |
| Time served or expiration | The county term ended through sentence completion or credit. | Sentencing order and release entry |
| Probation or county parole | The person is outside jail under local court supervision. | Adult Probation and Parole |
| State parole | The person left an SCI but remains under a state sentence. | PA DOC supervised-person locator |
| Transfer | Another county, PA DOC, BOP, ICE, or other custodian received the person. | Destination field and receiving locator |
The distinction is practical. A state parolee may live in the community but remain in legal custody. A person transferred from the Jefferson County Jail may still be confined. Final discharge is narrower: it means the controlling custody or supervision has ended through lawful action.
Fields in Jefferson Release Records
Ask for an existing booking or commitment record in its native form. Do not demand that staff build a new report or answer a broad set of questions. A focused request can identify the exact event and let the agency redact any exempt part while producing the rest. Not every listed field is guaranteed to exist or be public in Jefferson County.
| Requested field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Full name, aliases, birth date | Which person the entry concerns |
| Booking or commitment number | The local custody episode |
| Admission date and time | When county custody began |
| Docket and charges at booking | The court case tied to custody |
| Bail type and amount | The bail terms recorded at booking |
| Release date and time | When this jail stopped holding the person |
| Authority and release type | The legal or administrative basis |
| Destination or receiving agency | Community release versus continuing custody |
| Sentence credit, if maintained | How credited custody affected the term |
| Booking photograph | The image tied to that specific booking |
A certified custody entry or certified court order may be needed for a formal legal or administrative matter. A screenshot can help someone navigate a system, but it is not a certified record. Jefferson County publishes no official online retention period for a recent-release list because no such list was found.
Request Jefferson County Release Records
Begin with Jefferson County Jail Records at 814-849-1933, option 3. The jail is at 578 Service Center Road, Brookville, PA 15825, and lists business hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Jail, not the Sheriff, is the county’s published contact for booking and release records.
- Identify the person with a full name, booking number or date, and another suitable identifier.
- Ask for the release date and time, release authority or category, and destination or receiving agency.
- For a written record, use the standard Pennsylvania Right-to-Know request form and address it to the county’s current open-records officer.
- Describe a narrow existing record and date range. Ask for electronic delivery and redaction of exempt details rather than total denial.
- Use the court public-access route separately for docket sheets and filed court orders.
Under RTKL Section 901, an agency generally has five business days to grant, deny, or invoke an extension. Section 902 permits up to 30 calendar days for listed reasons. The live Office of Open Records fee schedule controls. Electronic delivery generally has no duplication charge, certification is recommended at no more than $5 per record, and estimated lawful fees above $100 may require prepayment.
Send the request to the agency holding the record. The Office of Open Records handles appeals and is not the first custodian of a county jail record.
Jefferson Release Access and Limits
Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know Law presumes a local-agency record is public unless an exemption, another law, privilege, or court order applies. A narrow administrative custody event differs from an investigative file. Criminal and noncriminal investigation material, personal identifiers, safety information, juvenile material, sealed cases, and expunged records can require withholding or redaction.
Courts follow judicial public-access rules rather than the same executive-agency request track. Pennsylvania CHRIA Section 9104 treats court dockets, police blotters, and contemporaneous press releases as public materials, but it does not make every image or investigative record public. RTKL Section 706 supports production of nonexempt portions after redaction.
Expungement under 18 Pa.C.S. § 9122 and limited access under related sections are not the same. A restricted case can disappear from ordinary public search even though authorized justice agencies retain data. That absence should never be filled by stale copied material.
Where Jefferson County Bail Is Paid
Jefferson County Jail expressly says bail cannot be paid at the jail. Family or friends must contact the committing district judge, presiding judge, or Prothonotary to arrange payment. Going to the Service Center jail expecting to complete bail there will not follow the county’s published process.
This creates a two-record check. The court or docket confirms that bail was set, changed, or satisfied. Jail Records confirms when the physical release process ended and whether another hold changed the destination. A court order alone does not state the precise door time.
Jefferson Weekender Release Segments
The jail publishes a special weekender policy for a sentence served in periods shorter than six days. The court orders a fee calculated from weekly income using the last three pay stubs. That local practice creates repeated entry and exit events rather than one simple final release.
Ask which commitment segment a release entry describes. “Released after a weekender segment” is accurate when another segment remains. It should not be called sentence completion unless the record or court order establishes that result.
Find Jefferson County Released Inmates
The strongest Jefferson County released inmate search starts with custody type. A county booking, state sentence, federal case, and immigration transfer leave different records. For a very recent local event, a phone call to Jail Records is stronger than a web search because the county publishes no official current roster or recent-release page.
- Search the UJS criminal docket by participant and Jefferson County if the custody level is unclear.
- Call Jail Records for a local booking and ask for time, authority, type, and destination.
- Use the PA DOC locator if a state commitment or state parole is plausible.
- Check the correct local or state supervision office when the docket shows parole or probation.
- Use PA SAVIN/VINELink to cross-check a named person and register for future changes.
- Follow a documented transfer into another county, BOP, ICE, or another named facility.
- Request the existing record when no public search supplies a durable answer.
The Jefferson County released-last-24-hours path explains how to request a defined same-day interval. It is a records fallback, not a hidden county feed.
A person drops off a custody list when that system stops showing the booking. That alone cannot distinguish community release, transfer, data lag, or a restricted record.
Jefferson State Release Lookup
The PA DOC Inmate/Department Supervised Individual Locator covers people currently under DOC jurisdiction and people currently under state community supervision. It is not a history of every former Jefferson County Jail detainee. A person who bonded out, served a county sentence, or completed local probation may never appear.
| Search field | Use |
|---|---|
| DOC number | Best way to avoid same-name errors |
| First and last name | Basic person search |
| Age and committing county | Narrow a common name |
| Gender and race/ethnicity | Use only as needed to distinguish results |
Read status, location, and sentence dates together. An SCI location signals physical state custody. A parole location or supervised status means institutional release while the state sentence continues. The minimum date is generally the first parole eligibility point, not a promised exit. The maximum is the sentence boundary subject to lawful credit and recalculation.
The official PA DOC search form shows the fields available for a Jefferson County state case.
Its result must be matched to the court docket and must not be used to infer a county-jail release that never entered state custody.
Jefferson Release Orders Stay on Dockets
The UJS docket often persists after a jail entry disappears. It can show docket number, participant, case status, charges, bail, disposition, sentence orders, and later events. A filed bail order or time-served sentence explains the authority for release, but it is not a live jail door log.
The official UJS Case Search landing page is the durable statewide starting point.
Pair a relevant docket event with Jail Records or PA SAVIN when the exact physical event matters.
Jefferson County Recent Release Records
The official Jail and Sheriff pages expose no 24-hour list, 72-hour list, booking search, mugshot gallery, retention window, update cadence, or county-endorsed roster app. Search results for other places named Jefferson County often point to a different state. Check the government domain, state, address, and phone before relying on a result.
The correct substitute is a narrow request for existing release-log entries between exact timestamps. PA SAVIN may corroborate one named person, and the court docket may explain the cause. Neither source creates a countywide feed. The county’s official jail page visibly routes users to Records rather than a roster.
That contact path is the honest same-day option.
Jefferson Post-Release Supervision
Jefferson County Adult Probation and Parole handles court supervision for county cases. Its local programs include bail supervision, work release, community service, electronic monitoring or house arrest, treatment court, parole-plan investigations, and fines and costs collection. Those programs explain why someone may be outside jail while still subject to a court order.
State parole is separate. The Pennsylvania Parole Board makes eligible state-sentence decisions, and PA DOC field services supervise the person after institutional release. The sentencing docket shows which route fits. A county sentence points to the local office; a state sentence points to PA DOC and the Board. More verification steps appear on the Jefferson County parole and probation page.
The official local probation page shows Jefferson County’s own programs and contact route.
It should not be confused with the statewide supervised-individual locator.
Jefferson Federal Release Transfers
A disappearance from Jefferson County Jail may reflect federal or immigration transfer. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal records from 1982 forward. Read its Release Date and Location together. A past date with a released location can establish departure from BOP custody, but supervised release or another custodian may still follow.
USMS manages federal detainees from arrest through disposition and may use county, state, federal, or contract space. It has no public historical release locator like BOP. For a pretrial federal case, the federal court order is often stronger. ICE’s Online Detainee Locator focuses on adult current and limited recent detention. A no-result can reflect spelling, transfer, lag, age rules, or the end of its display window.
No reviewed official source established a Jefferson County ICE detention contract or a BOP or ICE facility in the county. These are contingency paths only. A detainer request is not the same as ICE taking physical custody.
The official BOP search demonstrates the federal fields and status format.
Use it only when a federal sentence or transfer is supported by the case record.
Restricted Jefferson Release Records
Pennsylvania expungement and limited-access processes can make an old UJS case unavailable while an uncontrolled copied photograph remains online. That mismatch proves neither current custody nor present legal status. It should not be repaired by republishing stale material or by treating an old image as a current record.
A photograph is an identity aid, not a custody-status field. Verify the person and event through the original agency and docket. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, and limited-access material requires restraint, and missing facts should remain missing.
Where Jefferson Release Records Appear
Each source answers a limited question. Checking more than one record prevents a release from one custodian from being mistaken for the end of all custody.
| Person or event | Primary source | What it confirms |
|---|---|---|
| Jefferson County Jail booking | Jail Records, UJS, PA SAVIN | Local exit, authority, and reported status |
| PA state prisoner | PA DOC locator and Board Action | SCI custody, state parole, sentence milestones |
| County supervision | Adult Probation and Parole | Local reporting route, within disclosure limits |
| Federal sentenced person | BOP locator and federal docket | BOP location or release plus court action |
| ICE detention | ODLS and ERO | Current or limited recent ICE status |
Record the date and time checked. Use full identifiers, not a photo or name alone. Describe the result precisely as released from a named custodian, transferred, on parole, or finally discharged.
Jefferson County Release Systems
The facility map follows the actual custody system shown by the release record. It does not treat a nearby institution as the destination merely because it is close to Jefferson County.
- Jefferson County Jail is the primary local custody and release-record source.
- Jefferson County Adult Probation and Parole handles county court supervision but is not a jail.
- Pennsylvania Department of Corrections system handles state sentences and state parole, although no active SCI was identified inside the county.
- Federal Bureau of Prisons system applies to federal sentences, with no BOP prison identified in Jefferson County.
- ICE detention network applies to civil immigration detention, with no local ICE center or county contract found.
The person’s actual receiving facility controls. Follow the destination named in the release entry and confirm it in the matching locator or records office.
